  • 💍 How to Get a Marriage License in Oklahoma

Before you say "I do," you’ll need a marriage license! Here's everything you need to know to get legally married in the Sooner State.

    📍 Where to Apply

Marriage licenses are issued by County Court Clerks in Oklahoma. You can apply in any county, and the license is valid statewide, so you don't have to apply in the county where your ceremony takes place.

    🧾 What You’ll Need

    • Both parties must appear in person

    • A valid ID such as a driver’s license, state ID, military ID or birth certificate

    👫 Age Requirements

    • 18 and older: You can apply without parental consent.

    • 16–17 years old: You’ll need a certified copy of your birth certificate and written consent from a parent or legal guardian.

    • Under 16: Marriage is only allowed by court order in rare circumstances.

    🏠 Residency Requirements

Good news! You do not need to be an Oklahoma resident to get married here. Out-of-state couples are welcome — perfect for those planning a destination wedding in OKC!

    💰 Cost & Waiting Period

    • Standard License: $50

    • Discounted License: $5 (with certified premarital counseling; ask your wedding officiant for details)

🕒 No waiting period for adults — you can marry the same day you get your license!
For minors, there's a 72-hour waiting period after the license is issued.

    📅 License Expiration

Your Oklahoma marriage license must be used and returned to your county court clerks office within 30 days. Sooner is better!
